Hillary Clinton
The former First Lady of the United States
Hillary Clinton is a prominent American politician and diplomat who served as the 67th United States Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013. In 1978, she became the First Lady of Arkansas when her husband, Bill Clinton, was elected governor. She later served as the First Lady of the United States during her husband’s presidency from 1993 to 2001.
Hillary Clinton did attend Yale Law School, one of the most prestigious law schools in the United States, and earned her law degree (Juris Doctor) in 1973. She is generally considered to be a liberal or progressive Democrat. However, her cultural and belief system can be seen as embodying certain traditional American values, such as a commitment to public service, democracy, and equal opportunity.
As a political leader, Hillary Clinton is often associated with her pantsuits, professional attire and other tailored garments, which have become something of a trademark of her political image. At the same time, she has also been known to experiment with bolder and more expressive fashion choices, including vibrant colors and eye-catching accessories. Her preference for bright and bold colors in her fashion choices could be seen as a way of challenging traditional gender roles and expectations. Historically, women in politics and other male-dominated fields have often been expected to dress in more muted or conservative colors, in order to convey a sense of seriousness and professionalism.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton made history as the first woman to win a major party’s nomination for President of the United States when she ran as the Democratic Party’s nominee. Despite the disappointment of her unsuccessful bid for President in 2016, Clinton’s career, legacy and culture, including her fashion style, will no doubt continue to inspire and empower women in the United States and around the world.
As she expressed some day a woman will shatter that highest and hardest glass ceiling, and become President of the United States. When a woman is eventually elected as President, and we watch Hillary Clinton’s speech once more, her words will still resonate deeply with us, reminding us that every little girl is valuable, powerful, and deserving of the chance to pursue her dreams.
